CORE was engaged by St Catherine's School to develop the fire engineering for its new Performing Arts and Aquatic Centre in Waverley — a seven-storey facility bringing together a swimming pool, gym, theatre, multi-purpose hall and basement car park, integrated with adjoining teaching buildings on an operating school campus.

The architectural complexity put a prescriptive Deemed-to-Satisfy approach out of reach, so CORE prepared a Fire Engineering Report in line with the International Fire Engineering Guidelines. It resolved structural steel protection, fire separation, exit travel distances, hydrant booster protection and sprinkler coverage over the pool — setting the acceptance criteria, fire safety strategy and compliance methodology in one coordinated package.

The result supported the school's design aspirations for an ambitious assembly and aquatic building while demonstrating that every Performance Solution meets the BCA Performance Requirements.
